Our 18 month contract is ending soon (April), so we're considering our options going forward. The BT service has been fine, but we're trying to cut costs (economy, recession, etc etc). We're currently on Broadband Option-3 (£29.40 a month, inc. VAT), plus the £15 or so per month line rental.
We've got SKY for our TV, and they seem to have some good deals for the first 12 months of broadband (current winter deal ending today, but I'm sure they'll have more deals soon). They seem like the obvious option, though I have no idea whether they're a MUST AVOID! for whatever reason, or whether they're the same as BT.
Is there anyone else worth looking at? I'm sure broadband used to be cheaper, i.e. sub-£20.
Many thanks.

Which Sky package. If it is Sky unlimited rather than Sky connect then I would say it is better than the BT option 3. Phone is much the same but be careful of things that may be extras on Sky that may have been included with BT (eg I am not certain but Sky may charge for caller display).

Just the broadband would change. Caller display is £3 a month on BT anyway.
Or do you HAVE to have Talk with the Sky Unlimited?

Since Sept 2011 people signing up to the Sky broadband LLU services have had to transfer line rental and calls as well.
Caller Display was free on Sky last time I looked

Yep it's free, just checked.
Sky Unlimited + Talk seems the best option. Unless I'm miscalculating it would save about £11 a month (without any deals, might be cheaper later).

Caller display is £3 a month on BT anyway. It's free when you take BT Privacy-at-Home and make at least 6 calls per quarter.

We've got Calling Features Pack: Caller Display at £3 per month. How do we switch to the privacy at home thing? Call them?

Call them or, if you have an online BT a/c, you can do it yourself or, if not, you can do it here: https://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerOrder...
