Hi, just moved to a new place and I need to sort out an internet connection and I'm not really sure who to go with. I used to use IDNet and had great experience with them, but I'm not sure I should carry on with them again. I am sharing a place with 3 other people. 1 of us is a gamer and I torrent (uploading more than downloading) a fair bit. Hard to say what we'd use a month, but I think 60gb/mo would be conservative.
Looking for a balance of: reliability, speed, cost and usage. Other flat mates are leaning towards Virgin cause it's so cheap, but I'm always skeptical of big names...
Any advice is much appreciated!

How long do you expect to be there? Big names also tend to be 12/18 month minimum terms.
Do you mean Virgin Cable, or Virgin ADSL? A huge difference. Do Virgin Cable even install in flats?
Watch out for the ISPs that also count upload towards your allowance! A fair number do.
As has been suggested, Infinity is one heck of a good deal. 18-month minimum term.

What's your budget like?

I'd say at the very most up to 40gbp/month.

Sadly only here for a year contract so far, so would really want something that matches our flat contract.
I think Virgin Cable. If it was Virgin Cable is that a good service?

You could consider Plusnet Extra Fibre and phone. Note that as well as the 120GB allowance, there is an unlimited night-time period. But uploads are counted.
On the face of it the broadband is an 18-month contract, but don't worry about that too much. Just a bit more research you need to do.
For background information see this document.
Plusnet isn't listed there, butt they have obviously followed its recommendations, including for just broadband. When I signed up to Value Fibre, (not on a Plusnet phone line), I was told that I can cancel at any time within the 18 months, starting from Day 1, on their normal 10-day notice. I would have to pay only £4 per month for each outstanding month, not the full cost of the connection. If I did that within the first 12 months I would have to pay for the "free" router.
Whether BT Infinity with phone line now has a cheaper getout, following on from what they said initially in that document, I don't know.

I would like to have a service with good speeds and good customer service.
The Titan website has some interesting packages, but does not tell me what speed to expect on my market 1 exchange.
Customer comments are not great:

If VM do install and you consider them(i advise agains it) make sure you do research on their community forum before picking them, ive been with VM for a year and have had both terrible customer service and terrible internet connection from them. High jitter and massive ping and tons of packet loss to servers less than 50 miles away. IMO a terrible ISP they claim BIG things and provide very little of them.

Yes. Thought this was another thread.

Go for Zen. I've been through a few ISPs and Zen has been the best by far. I was tempted by Virgin but when I compared reliability, customer service, etc they fell well short. You can get 100gb for 35 per month which is within your budget. I live in Willesden btw.
