Looking to migrate from Xilo to an unlimited provider. Although Xilo have been great, I simply can't afford high GB packages.
BE Value looks the best option, less that what I am paying at the moment but truly unlimited and no shaping.
Will I see a noticeable change in service switching over? Is Be BT wholesale decent?
I need broadband without line rental, as I have already signed a separate line rental contract.
Line speed is 1.3mb

BE Value looks the best option BE does not serve Market 1 exchanges; they are LLU only. Their sister co. O2 does but their O2 Access ADSL Max package is not to be recommended.
Look at Plusnet or John Lewis who resale Plusnet with some extra benefits. However you must rent your phone line from JLP too.

Sadly, you won't find a truly unlimited ISP on a BT-only exchange.
Bandwidth over BT's network costs money and isn't as cheap as LLU options.

TalkTalk Business offer Unlimited Broadband on ADSL. I am on it at the moment without Phone
However, due to speed issues I am moving to Freeola who have Unlimited from 7PM to 7AM. and 40gb during day.
As only 1 month contract with Freeola I can at least check if talktalk or line is problem.
My neighbour gets 6mb from Vodaphone. I get 0.8mb at night with download of 22Kps

If you want unlimited BT are probably the best
They have no limit or fair usage. They did have fair use at 300gb but that was removed so there's now no upper limit
You won't find a totally unlimited & unshaped ISP on market 1
BT isn't bad on market 1. Probably the cheapest actual unlimited ISP
Post office have fair use of 100gb
BT can offer you broadband only if you call them. The package isn't shown on the website
Bt do traffic shape peer to peer at peak hours.

However, due to speed issues...
And that's the problem. It's not truly unlimited because speed issues normally mean capacity problems and a common sign of attempting to offer unlimited on a product that is billed on a capacity charged model.

But there are some that are unlimited from 7 00pm and all weekends which is nearly as good as unlimited, especially with no contract tie-in.

have you looked at seeing if you can alter your download habits to something like an off-peak time? if so the options open up a bit more, as there are quite a few packages that will allow unlimited off-peak, I am also thinking that Uno/Xilo have some packages with unlimited off-peak.

Orange only offer BB + line rental deals on website.
I'm on Simply BB but I don't know if they still offer it. You'd need to phone them to find out.
I'd imagine that, tho' it is "Unlimited", the ADSL Max platform suffers from congestion, like all other ISPs, bar BT, at that exchange. And there's a £10 surcharge for being "out-of-area".

There's not a lot of info out there to look at to be able to consider them properly, to be honest.
Their prices, allowances, fees (set-up etc), contitions (fup?) etc are all frustratingly absent from their website.
How difficult would it be for all this (and more) information to be on their website to peruse over? You can't even put in your telephone number and see what packages they are able to offer.
This (unfortunately) is putting me off considering them, and to trust 24? months of my internet life to a company that I have to telephone to order is too much for me, I think.
Maybe I just haven't been able to find all of the package details on their site, but their T&C's certainly go into detail about Service Level Agreements, Downtime etc, and it looks from their T&C's that their "Initial Term" states 24 months, which I assume is the minimum contract length to stay with them
Thanks for the pointer, but it doesn't look right for me, I feel.

Can we step back a bit .
The last I know is you were on a 5GB (peak) package with xilo/uno. "Unlimited" is a huge jump.
What are you paying now, and how much are you using in the peak and off-peak times? Maybe we can come up with a more suitable "limited" package than you have, at a sensible price.

Yes, I'm currently a Xilo user, however i did upgrade my package to Home 25gb since I made my last thread.
I have no problem with Xilo, their service and support have been great, but I am finding now with more people using the internet connection at home than before, I am regularly exceeding the daytime usage.
This is with downloads scheduled at night.
So I was looking out there for an unlimited package so I didn't have to worry about checking my allowance all the time.
I first thought of upgrading my monthly usage to 50gb Home, but that is outside of my budget, so I was looking at providers that instead offer unlimited internet.
However, I am aware how some companies employ a very bad and congested service to BT Wholesale users with unlimited packages. Being on o2 unlimited and talk talk (former pipex) previously myself I exhibited this problem and I am pretty sure companies such as Orange and Sky are the same.
So my question basically is, apart from peak time throttling of p2p downloads that i expect every bt wholesale unlimited package to employ, what is the overall service quality of say BT Broadband only or Post Office Broadband unlimited compared to that of xilo?

So no one with any experience of the BT or Post Office Unlimited services on market 1?
Is it only BT or Post Office you are considering?
Also, I'm sure I remember reading that the post Office, whilst "unlimited" has introduced a 100gb FUP, which is worth reading before you (may) decide to sign up with them.
I am also on a Market 1 exchange, with no sign of any LLU or even 21CN upgrade taking place in the next 12-18 months, so I had a bit of a scout around, and decided in the end to sign up to John Lewis Broadband, which (according to their T&C's) is completely unlimited. "Use as much or as little as you want" is the way they put it, with no FUP.
Only restriction they have (as do most Market 1 providers) is they "manage" P2P usage, but I don't use P2P at all, so that doesn't bother me.
Also, it is a 12 month contract, so if you are only looking for a 1 month contract, this is no good for you.
Finally, they require you to take your line rental with them too, so maybe this won't suit if that's no good for you.
They are also doing a 6 month free offer at the mo (started a couple of days ago), so the normal £18/month broadband cost is waived for the first 6 months (of your 12 month contract), so for the first 6 months I am paying £18.50 for line rental, anytime calls and unlimited BB from them (which I think is a reasonable price).
This jumps to £36.50 for months 7-12, and I am hoping that by the end of my 12 months there might be some LLU options on my exchange.
One thing in the JL BB T&C's that I liked was that they (virtually) guarantee that you get their estimated speed, as it states that if your speed is lower than the estimate, and they cannot resolve it within 90 days, you can get a MAC code and leave without penalty. I have printed that off in case they change their T&C's sometime down the line.
I should be live with JL BB next week sometime.
Good luck in your search.

You could ask something similar in the Post Office forum on this site? Or have a browse of "All posts" on it?
