Replacement for BT? ADSL Max only - high usage?

It's been a long time since my last visit!

We are currently with BT, however our contract has just ended, and the service (support, and we do have line issues / packet loss) is appalling. I've actually given up trying to get anywhere with them.

We do have occasional high-usage, in the 200GB region - so that needs to be taken into consideration.

Unfortunately, we can only get ADSL Max - no LLU or anything else.

Any suggestions?

If the packet loss and line issues are really with the line then very few ISP are going to make a difference, since its Openreach who look after the copper.

If the line is long and only slow speeds are to be expected then generally it is a case of putting up with the issues.

As for which ISP, PlusNet? Probably more than standard pricing as sounds like a small exchange.

If you want to pay a chunk more and get someone who will fight to improve things Andrews & Arnold.

Yes I do believe the packet loss on the whole is due to the copper - although sometimes I do experience congestion / packetloss on BT's network hops.

It's more of an issue with BT's support being incapable of understanding what packetloss is - yet alone trying to fix it - the support would be the main reason for leaving them.

We are considering plusnet - a quick check shows (not including the £25 activation) - that it'd be 19.45 or so per month for their unlimited package - trying to find out whether that's "unlimited with a fup" or not!

No FUP on the current PlusNet Unlimited packages.

If the packet loss is down to the copper then should also see evidence of lots of errors FEC/CRC type counters

The same as Post Office used to do before jumping to TT E/W included in £10 line rental.
