Underlying networks - BT, TTB or Entanet?

I'm another Coms plc 'customer' who needs to move.

When Coms migrated me to their network my upload speed halved to 0.45Mbps, and nothing they can do (line profile changes, interleaving on/off) has restored it (only made the line less reliable). PaulComs was helpful and said:

Your connection may have been on BE/02 prior to migration which has now closed as a network Its a great shame as I used to work for ADSL24's previous underlying supplier adn set BE up as a carrier partner. Their network and service was outstanding sadly Telefonica decided that it wasn't their core business and decided to close the network.

You now have TTB as the underlying supplier and Coms f or layer 2.

Another Coms staff member said:

Every provider has differently shaped line profiles, the upload/download speeds from the 9dB one you had with ADSL24 won't match the 9dB one from our provider

Now I'm changing providers, I don't want to pick a rotten underlying network

Although PaulComs says above I'm on TTB, a traceroute looks like Entanet:

What are the known performance characteristics of BT and TTB networks? Given I have a fairly poor line and Entanet has been worse than my previous experience - what am I likely to get with each of them?

I've talked to Zen so far, who tell me they use the BT network, but I'm open to going to whichever ISP does 1 month contracts and has an underlying network that'll work well for me.
Oh, and why am I moving away from Coms? Apart from slow upload speeds, my broadband is now too poor to make Skype video calls (anytime) or watch iPlayer/Netflix (evenings).

All depends on what coms are buying as a service from TT

Bt wholesale adsl2+ can pretty much match speeds of TalkTalk LLU and vice versa.
Get an isp that wont tweak things and you can be left with poor speeds with both

Thanks Andrew. Do you know anything about how the symmetry of the line profiles changes between LLU providers?

And which would be ISPs who will tweak things? AAISP is the one I know, but we move in 3 months so their Home::50 isn't an option, and their PAYG too expensive.

The underlying TTB network is very good. I was on it with Adsl24 and it was very fast with no real congestion. I think many would agree with that. It is only since Coms have taken over things have slipped.

There was a lot of debate in the early days about the Enta connection. PaulComs was adamant they didnt use Enta, but it appears there is a physical connection somewhere along the line as most of us report have Enta showing.

Personally I wont go TTb again - and indeed intend to!

It looks like the choice of 1 month plans from the 'better' ISPs comes down to Zen, Xilo or Vivacity. Any thoughts?
