My exchange is about to get FTTC and I'm looking at Pulse8, they are small and seem competitive which is good. I prefer the smaller companies like AAISP, I just can't afford them.
Does anyone have experience with FTTC and would you recommend them?
Thanks

Joined them about a month ago on their XL home fibre package. Couple of issues quickly sorted out by Adam and Simon.
Really cannot fault the service at all!

I read your migration post, what does TTB mean? Does it mean TalkTalk? If so do Pulse8 use TalkTalk as their backend? If so not sure I'd be able to use Pulse8 as I believe my cabinet will only have BT in it

It is your exchange that needs TTB enabled for FTTC - you should be able to check on Samknows to get an idea.

TTB is TalkTalk Business which is what Pulse8 resell. Check SamKnows for the providers at your exchange.

Pulse8 resell BTW where TT LLU is not available, though a higher price.

I live in a rural village so pretty sure we wont have LLU just like we didnt for ADSL Anyone know of the extra cost involved if Pulse8 have to use BBW?

You would know if you check on Samknows - takes 2 minutes, well worth a look.
Have you tried going to their home page and entering your phone number to see what they will offer you? Far quicker and more certain than asking us what they might or might not do.

Don't forget it is the head-end exchange the OP will need to check not necessarily their own exchange.
|
|

But the Pulse8 home page search I assume would take any confusion out of the question - it should be an emphatic response on actual costs for that line.

I have to say I have been looking at Pulse8 and Uno for a new FTTC install (will need a new line as well it seems)
Now with Pulse 8 they have come back and quickly advised on install costs (as per that PDF link) £90 for a new telephone line and £125 for a new FTTC install (with OR modem at present)
Uno sadly at this time have been unable to confirm costs... I have to say BOTH ISP's have been quick off the mark to give as much info as possible.
I did e-mail AAISP but have yet to get a reply....

Thank you for that, I was looking for their price list

What do Pulse8 call the surcharge for using BT rather than TTB?
I can't seem to find anything on the price list, and when I use their checker I get the standard price, despite not having TTB around here.

Give them a call, Sam and Adam are extremely helpful. Their number is 0800 042 8888.

Is that on FTTC or ADSL2+?

Sorry, FTTC.
Will get in touch with them to see if they can confirm.

Apologises for the delayed update - Pulse8 only took an hour to reply.
Apparently, I wouldn't be able to have fibre with them:
Unfortunately the standard broadband does need to be available in order to get you up to Fibre.
From what I can see your number doesnt have that available so we wouldnt be able to provide you with Fibre Optic.
I just presumed the transfer would be just fibre to fibre.

Might exclusively be using TTB for Fibre now, which isn't at your exchange/has capacity - that's the only thing that could explain that.

As I expected, they always answered very quickly at all hours. Had a couple of enquiries reguarding my change of product unanswered for a week or more, so no idea if going ahead or not - probably at a loss with my line. They always claimed to use BTW where no LLU.

Or the lack of GEA link cable at the head-end exchange maybe.
NOT ON BT wholesale

AAISP are supposed to be launching new, better, packages at the end of Jan -
New Terabyte Packages Progress!
Many of you will have heard rumours of some new, higher usage, FTTC packages delivered via TalkTalk wholesale infrastructure. This project has been ongoing for some time now; longer than we had hoped, but we are finally almost ready to launch.
Our first test order was placed in mid-December (on the line of a member of staff) and once we've verified that all works as expected and also developed the necessary API calls to enable our sales team to place orders more efficiently, we will be launching to customers.
We do apologise for the length of time this has taken to come to fruition, but we really are almost there now, at last.
Full details of packages and pricing of these terabyte packages will be published on www.aa.net.uk very soon; we are intending for this to be before the end of January.

It was in a response to a post by CJT and the last line of that post was saying they hadn't heard back from AAISP - so the info does appear pertinent for someone who is possibly considering them as an ISP.
