What are SSE like these days?

Just wondering what SSE�s �fibre� broadband is like these days. I remember loads of complaints about poor speed and throttling a few years ago. Have things improved?

I wouldn�t have considered them but they do competitively priced no fixed term contract deals which seem very attractive.

Anyone got any recent experience of them?

I'm trying to find this out as well, did you have any luck elsewhere? I read that some customers were moved from Daisy to TalkTalk Business backhaul and had an improved experience. They offer monthly contracts for fibre as standard so it's fairly risk free to try them.

I have just joined SSE broadband because BT were getting way too expensive.
Have not had any problems with them so far , if fact my bandwidth has gone up.
I have there fastest package 80/20 and am at this time syncing at 74/18..
I did not have to pay for anything as I am also an SSE customer for Gas & Elec.
If you are not an energy customer I think that other terms apply.

Any complaints about their traffic management or peak time slowdowns?

They do use traffic management , but I have not had any slow downs at peak times yet.
So far they seem ok , but I guess time will tell.
I pay for there fastest offer but there are other lower speeds available.
But yes , I think they are now worth a try ,but that is just my few cents worth.

Not heard anything elsewhere and haven't yet decided if I will give them a try. Am in contract with Vodafone for another couple of months. The monthly contracts are very appealing but would prefer to understand the current state of play with SSE to avoid having to change providers twice in as many months.

The lack of complaints over the last year or so leads me to believe things have improved somewhat as previously complaints seemed to be everywhere!

Do you have any experience of FTP performance? Just wondering if this is subject to traffic management on SSE.

Perhaps all the users on here that were with them have moved to other ISPs!

If https://www.thinkbroadband.com/isps/sse is up to date there's no users providing ratings of this ISP, they are not an ISPA Member and
don't subscribe to the OFCOM code of practice. Draw your own conclusions!

No I have not used FTP with them yet , but that is because I cant`t be bothered to setup an FTP server.
But saying that , with the fastest SSE package and judging by the quality readings it should be ok , but not having tried it out I can`t really give you an answer.
