Changing ISP

My BT contract has ended, so am looking for a new isp provider,curently getting 74/15, I have G Fast at cab, but not really bothered about that.

Out of the two which is better to go wit.

Sky

I guess what might help others to offer an opinion, is if you explained what your criteria are for judging a good service from an ISP ?

And what the OP doesn�t like about BT, especially if they can get a good retention deal, would also help.

Also possibly important is if they use their own modem/router or a BT Hub.

Using a Draytek 130 with a old RT-N66U,which has Merlin,& is no longer supported by them.
So, looking to upgrade router,not fussed with keeping 130.

Might be worth trying get a good retention deal,I'm just exploring other options as well.

Why I asked about having your own modem/router is because Sky try to force you into using the one they supply, which logs in using MER. (Nothing to do with Merlin).

Using your own is allowed, but AIUI they won�t tell you the username and password. (Unless that policy has been changed). There are plenty of posts explaining how to discover them, but whatever you use needs to support MER.

Username and password haven't been required since december 2016.
Any gibberish in the correct format will work.

No the Router still needs to support DHCP option 61

As above, option 61 still needs to be supported.

The 'sky router only' restriction was actually removed from the T/C's around a month ago, so folks are discussing on the official forum now.
