Who for 900 FTTP service? BT or Zen?

[link to this post]

Hi all,
I am having a shocker with Vodafone Gigafast 900 (see this post) and wanted your advice please.

Any views on the best tech support from a ISP offering FTTP 900 or +? I am with VF and they have essentially refused to talk to me about download speed issues that are not straight forward. So I am left to look for another service.

Do you think someone at Zen Tech would speak to me about how they would handle the issue I am having if it was on their service?

I have no experience of BT's support, but Zen's is excellent. I am not sure whether they would speak to you before you are a customer though - I would suggest calling them, and see what they say.

What sort of speed issues are you having?

From a quick scan of your other post, it looks like you're connected to the Cityfibre FTTP network rather than Openreach FTTP.

Zen may talk to you, but as it's unlikely that you're a potential customer (unless you also have BTOR FTTP available in your location) I suspect you won't get very far frown

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I did call Zen actually, and they were very helpful, I cant fault them. Sales and Tech Support both addressed my questions which was very kind. I actually chose to go with BT in the end as they supplied my old FTTP in the past and I guessed (may be incorrect) that they are a bit closer to Openreach if there were problems. They have also joined the 2019 consumer service policy and offer a speed guarantee that would have been very useful with dealing with my speed issues I am having with VF.

Yes, Zen have a CityFibre service too but not in my area, that is exclusive to VF as I understand it.

Thanks again for your time.

So you are on a symmetric-capable FTTP service provisioned from Openreach not City Fibre??!

No, I realise I've not explained it very well.

I have CityFibre installed FTTP that is then providing my (supposed to be) 900up/900 down via Vodafone Gigafast 900.

I also had an old BT Openreach FTTP fibre I used to use with a 200Mb service I used before the CityFibre cable was run in.

So after having such problems with VF, I have signed up for BT Full Fibre 900 that is using the old Openreach ONT.

Does that make sense?

It does now. Thanks was head scratching there a while. There must be a handful of folks that have both CF and Openreach fibre installed/available. Lucky you.
