Uno Duo Broadband Anygood?

[link to this post]

Hey guys

I'm thinking of moving from EE to Uno.

I'm looking at Uno's duo package, anyone use this and what is their experience of it?

I am on a similar (older) package, Talk Surf (phone and broadband) TBB is the backhaul IIRC and I have had no problems with broadband or phone in the five years I have had it. There has been no downtime on my line or broadband. Billing is itemised, cheap calls if I use the phone.

You may want to hear from others on the Duo service, but that's my experience with Uno and my service.

Earlier this year, I've moved from Vodafone to Uno and I'm on the Duo package. So far, it has been pretty good and a very stable connection.

Download speed is the same as Vodafone (around 40 Mb) while the upload is higher (9 Mb versus 5 Mb). This has proved very useful over the last couple of days as I've had to set a VPN to my home network enabling me to work from another location more efficiently.

The backhaul is Zen Wholesale and so far, I have not experienced any slowdown during the day (working from home with lots of Teams/Skype calls) or evening (Netflix/iPlayer/Now/Youtube).

I'm a very happy customer of Uno's "Duo Advanced v1" package and can't recommend it enough, though I did come off a rather ancient Freeserve --> Wanadoo --> Orange --> EE ADSL service, so I'd probably have had trouble moving to something worse! Fortuitously I moved just before the pandemic.

What was best for me, having experienced other ISPs, was that when I call them I immediately get to someone who knows what they're talking about and respects that I do - so none of the tedium of walking through a script to check I've got it plugged-in turned on etc. (The problem, BTW, was a fault in an Openreach/BT exchange building - it took out quite a lot of xDSL across North Cambridge).

I'm getting about 78mb down, 19.4mb up. Apart form that outage - no problems.

BTW I think that if I let you have a referrer link I think both I and you get a token saving.... though I don't know if it's acceptable to post referrer links in a forum so I haven't. Let me know if you want one. However, TBH I don't really are about that. It's just great to come across an ISP that seems to be good so I'm keen to support them.

ah that's great to hear some positive feedback. I have only heard great feedback about Uno.

I too have come through Freeserve - Orange and EE ADSL then VDSL which I am on currently with EE.

I just need to get Uno ordered and a router sorted. Any recommendations on router? I was looking at the TPLink VR2800 for when I am going onto Uno.

Also how long did the switch/migration take for you?

I used to have the Archer VR2800, and it was a great router. I have had a number of TP-Link routers, and really like them. I currently have the Archer AX11000, but this does not have a modem built in.

I changed from Vodafone to Uno and I can say that I am very pleased with their services... No downtime at all...
