Thinking of moving to HeyBroadband

[link to this post]

Hi all, thinking of moving to HeyBroadband 900mb. I have a month left on my current contract so thinking of putting in an order but is 4 weeks too early? Will HeyBB use my current FTTP ONR or install their own? I have an Asus AX7800 which I want to keep using too.
Cheers

It is not clear which isp you are with at the moment and I am a little thrown by your reference to a ONR, when Openreach use ONT's. However, HB is a full network and service provider, so almost certainly you will need a new infrastructure connection.

As for your own router, I think HB put their router on the end of the fibre, but you can request a modem instead and use your own router. Best to do this from the outset, because there is a charge to change later.

lol ONR (optimum no-rinse!) - got my car detailing head on, I mean't ONT! Might just see if I can find an email to see about the modem. Cheers

I have Hey!Broadband at home.

Hey!Broadband use F&W Networks (it's F&W's "own" brand) so they will install a F&W ONT unless you already have one.

This should be fine. They'll want to do the initial setup using their own router, but once this is complete you can switch to your router. They use DHCP so no need for PPPoE credentials.

I read on FAQ on their site...

Yes, we provide Bridge Mode* service for free. If you plan to use your own router and require bridge mode, please let us know before installation as this will require a special modem to be installed. Otherwise, you will be charged £60 for the extra engineer visit.

Guess I need to tell them I want to use my own if they do this bridge mode?
