Strange Printing Problem

Hiya,

Having a bit of a strange problem with Word randomly printing.
If you open a document and try to print it, it locks up Word and refuses to print. The print queue shows a document ready to print with a size of 0 bytes. The only way to close Word is through End Task, and then to reopen the same document in Word and it used to print fine. This worked without fail for a while but now that doesn

Did the CD for the printer come with lots of utilities for the printer? If so, try installing the minimum, i.e. JUST the drivers and any essential utilities, not anything to do with photo editing, albums, CD printing, poster production or whatever else they may have put on the CD

Have you got a scanner?

Friend of mine had peculiar thing like this. Had to uninstall all his printer drivers and the scanner software and reinstall from scratch. They were both Canon devices bought at separate times and the scanner software was interfering with the newer printer software.

Also look on manufacturers web-site and get latest device drivers for your operating system (and for scanner if you have one).

I'm guessing, but it's a driver problem probably solved by an update from HP. Trawl the boards at HP. I've had something similar on a pal's system. Took a bit of research but found it eventually.
