Some sites take 5 minutes to load

[link to this post]

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me resolve a problem i am having with my new PC.
I recently built a new computer based on an Asus AM2 motherboard i have installed Windows SP2 and all the correct drivers but when i access the internet some sites are taking minutes to load each page, this page for instance takes 3 to 4 minutes to load

http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx?board_id=1&SLanguage=en-us

I have reinstalled windows several times, tried different drivers, altered TCP settings but nothing seems to work, i plugged my old NForce 2 PC back in and had no trouble at all accesseing the web and downloading at 8meg, switched back to the new one and max download is 6.5 meg.
I just cant figure out why some web pages take so long to load and why i have lost 1.5mb download speed.
If anyone can sged any light on this i would be very grateful

That particular site takes between three and four minutes to resolve on both one of my laptops and one of my PCs the two machines connecting through two different ISPs. Then again, over the years I have used Asus motherboards, I have nearly always found the Asus sites painfully slow to respond. As to your speed problems I can't comment as I am on fixed speed 2Mb with both ISPs.

firewall or antivirus settings can slow down the speed too

As to the site asus is a slow site plus its coming from the otherside of the world

takes around 5 seconds to be useable but gave up after 30seconds for it to complete
