Vista + Anti-Virus + Security Centre

I had Norton 360 installed on my Vista machine. However I thought I would change to Norton Internet Security 2007. After uninstalling Norton 360 properly and installing NIS the security centre in Vista reports that both the firewall and AV have two programs for each. If I click "Shows me the two" then it shows NIS and Norton 360. Is there any way I can delete Norton 360 from there as there are no traces as far as I know of Norton 360 being on the machine still.

Welcome to the hell of Symantec/Norton!

Notoriously difficult programs to remove fully and that's one of the reasons I never use them TBH.

I'd advise googling for "removing norton" etc.... that's likely to give you more results (they may even have a page on symantec support - I know they used to)

If you pay a visit to the norton website, I'm sure there is a removal tool available for download. I have has to use it in the past where the remains of Norton have affected excel spread sheet ?????

Yup did that and even after removing NIS so I had no anti-virus on Vista it still reported that Norton 360 and NIS were still installed. A bit worrying because if NIS was to turn off or not start I wouldn't be notified since it would still be there in the Security Center!

Anyone else had this problem?
