REAL PLAYER VISTA

[link to this post]

Having a major problem!

running VISTA

I had real player installed but it was not starting so I attempted to uninstall it but was prevented ...so after consulting REAL site I followed instructions to remove real player

attempted to reinstall and now I even if I am signed in as administrator I am prevented from installing...
I receive the error message:-

As a restricted user you do not have adequate Windows operating system rights to use this program to install software. Please contact your system administrator for help

I have checked and I am able to install other programs.....
any ideas?

Dump it because it is a heap of [censored]??

Seriously, if you need to play Real Media, why not try the free alternative? Head over to www.free-codecs.com and look for the 'Real Alternative', which includes browser plugins and Media Player Classic, which will happily play RM files.

Have you tried uninstalling it in safe mode?

Would also suggest turning off UAC if you haven't already done so.

Also, there is nothing to uninstall....I removed the files as directed by the REAL website

however, there are a number of real entries in the registry....but I don't feel like playing with fire and deleting registry items without being certain of the effect
