Problem with Quicktime on Windows Vista

After installing quicktime and it working for a while. I kept getting an error message. Anyway after getting rid of quicktime from my computer and trying to install it I get this error message 'The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This man indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738.'. If anybody could help me with this problem I would be most greatful.

Note: I am willing to download an alterance 'free' media player that runs quicktimes media formats.

When I try that I get this 'The module "vbscrit.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80004005. For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term.'
