Vista and MSN Live

[link to this post]

I have installed Vista Home Premium as a virtual machine in VMware. I can access the web and browse no problems and I can login to Yahoo Messenger. Live Messenger will not connect giving me an error code 81000306.

Any one know what's wrong?

are you using a Netgear DG834G by any chance? I had this problem using that router and the latest firmware, I had to downgrade to version V3.01.25 to get it to work.

if you haven't got a netgear router try the following to turn autotuning off, which is what I tried first till i found the router fix..

Try this to disable autotuning:
- Click start, All Programs
- Accesories
- Right-click Command Prompt
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter
- Restart your computer
