Windows 7 RTM - using until october

[link to this post]

Having all sorts of problems with Vista at the moment so wanted to install the Windows 7 RTM build once it gets confirmed over the next few days.

Is there a painless legitimate way I can activate this until October (when my paid for version arrives)? I understand that installing the RC would allow me to use it for a few months so was *hoping* I could do something similar with the RTM build.

Grateful for your thoughts

Cheers

Keith

Assuming you're a TechNet subscriber you shouldn't have any problems installing the RTM. Otherwise I would, personally, stick with the official RC rather than using an RTM from a dubious source. The RC is certainly good enough to use full time until you get your retail copy.

The latest version to work with the RC keys was 7260 iirc. It's the closest to RTM there is as it's part of the escrow line.

Could install the rtm build (not know yet) and re-arm it (apparently its up to 5 uses this time - up from 3!). Which will extend the grace period from 30 days to 180 days (even if its 3 - 120 days it will bring over to oct 22nd)...

Thanks for the replies on this.

Yes - rearming is pretty easy - its just a few commands you need to type in. If you google it I'm sure you will find the details.

I might have a go at this since this would give me 120 days or so use which would take me til October when my paid-for pre-order copy arrives.
