7 Upgrade question

Can you do a clean install with an upgrade option I assume you can ?

You can either upgrade your current version of Windows to 7 retaining programs, files etc, or you can do a clean install. With a clean install you can either wipe your hold hard drive, or you can install a completely clean operating system with Window 7, and your existing files will be kept in a new folder called "Windows.old".
If you do the second option, you will have to install programs, games again.

I chose the second option because I could not get my PC to boot from CD at the time (now fixed that problem). Now working OK on windows 7, can I now delete the "Windows.old" file or will that create problems?

I might be wrong but I seem to remember you cant delete it without a warning about some programs may not work etc... Unless you have a small HDD it shouldnt be a problem to keep it.

I did a clean install as I keep all my urgent stuff (Music/Games/AV install programs etc on a seperate 500gb drive)

A clean install is the best way forward. It takes about 15-25 mins and you won't get any conflicts with existing progs or settings. Make sure you backup your docs etc first though.

You can but check to see if any data files are in there that u may need.
