Asus - anyone had a Windows 7 upgrade from them ?

[link to this post]

About 3 months ago I puchased a new Asus laptop which qualified for a free Windows 7 upgrade, but their site is an absolute nightmare. I've sent them all they requested (proof of purchase, etc), but nothing seems to happen. I've emailed them several times, but the replies are not at all helpful.

Has anyone managed to get an upgrade from this shower ?

I will certainly think again about buying Asus, if this is an example of their after-sales service.

To widen the question slightly, has anyone yet had a "free" upgrade to Windows 7 from any manufacturer? If so, what didi it actually cost?

They seem to be using an agent of some sort. I had an email from them today advising that the upgrades will be available in December crazy

I'm still waiting on my upgrade. Received confirmation of order which requested I send Proof of Purchase. Did that and never heard back. Receipt said no charge, shipping in U.S. is free.

ACER charge £12.50 I think and the only proof you need is your ACER registration number, or Serial number of the unit. I am also led to believe that it will be shipped WITH the appropriate ACER Drivers disk for your unit, although for the life of me I can't remember where I got that last bit from.........

Trevor

Apparently Asus will be emailing you in December giving you details of how to pay for the shipping charge, or if you are in the US, presumably they'll just mail it out to you.
