Win 7 & 512mb

[link to this post]

Installed Win 7 HP on my wifes old Acer aspire 1680 laptop 1.6ghz which is on its last legs and it runs fine, Aero works ok but is switched off ruuning at about 66% on the meter of 512mb its not used for much more than e mail and surfing the odd itunes sync .

But it seems quite happy given it should have 1024mb min spec ?

Anyone else tried it on 512mb ?

Probably more than doable. turn off some more unneeded services and you may get more millage. I did for fun install xp on a 32mb machine and god did it page a lot.

The 1600 should go up to 1gb and its probably worth chucking a 2 or 4gb usb flash drive in your circumstance and use it for readyboost!

Yes, on a celeron 2.3 machine or something like that, ran like a flipping dog, but still better than Vista on it.
