Office 2007 & Office 2007 dual install

[link to this post]

Here we go again - good old windows update mad

I have office 2003 and office 2007 on this PC, previously before windows updated all docs (excel/word etc) would open in 2003 (as default). After today's little update it now opens only 2007 not 2003. How can I change the default to load 2003 only for word/excel etc?

TIA
Helan

anyway, back to your problem, sorry if this sounds obvious but have you tried using the right-click option?
ie right click , choses open with, then select o2k3 product and make sure the check mark is enabled for always use this program

I benefitted from that offer. Picked up Office Enterprise 2007 for about 36 quid thank you. I haven't got it installed yet as I am waiting until I do a brand new installation of XP. It can be installed on 2 computers. But too good of an offer to pass.

It's already out of date as Office 2010 is out next year. Probably why they're flogging them off cheaply.

Yep, as Jim says, as far as I am aware the right click option works fine.

no i think when office 2010 comes out it will be just as cheap from them - i have a legit version of office 2003 that i am happy with so no need to upgrade but when i was looking into this site (i got my software just as i stumbled upon this site - would have saved me money as well but only a couple of quid so wasnt really bothered) it seems like it is meant to be dirt cheap as it is for students (or parents of etc) but there would be limitations on how many copies you can buy, ie one copy only!!! no ebay stall with the 1000 copies you bought from them on the cheap!

but the reason why it looks legit (at least to me anyway) is that you can get to the site via a link from microsoft - so it is a legit re-seller but either way 36 notes for a copy of an enterprise edition of any version of office cant really be beat......so i think you will be happy even when they bring out the new version and its just a cheap

Hi All,

sorry for delay but I've had no PC, hard drive failed (luckily I had all my important stuff on a back up) so I had to wait for a new one to arrive (y'day) and put that on today.

I have loaded both 2007 and 2003 as some clients want 2007 and others want 2003 but so far, all seems to be okay atm so fingers crossed it sorted itself out smile

@ Jimster, I didn't in the end, one of my client's gave me a copy free for use so that was really handy but my sister got a copy from software4students for her daughter to use while at uni so that was of great help - thanks very much for that smile

Thank you all for your replies and apologies for delay in getting back to you. First time I been able to reply smile

Thanks again
Helan
