Dell Monitor - USB slots don't work with Windows 7

[link to this post]

I have a Dell Monitor which has 2 USB slots. Since I had a new PC with Windows 7, said slots don't respond when anything is plugged in.

Is it just a question of needing new drivers?

Stupid question. But if it's a new PC have you connected the cable from monitor to PC?

The monitor is fine - it's just that the 2 USB slots which it incorporates don't react to devices being plugged in to them any more.

I assume you are connecting from the PC to the monitor with a USB lead? As from looking at my Dell, it only acts as a USB hub. Unless it connects to the PC in another way?

If this is the case, can you try the port on the machine that has the USB lead that goes to the monitor, to see if it works with a non-hub device?

Have you plugged the USB upstream cable into the PC ie. You require a USB and video connection from the PC

Hi - a "light bulb moment" - I used to connect with a USB lead as well as the monitor lead. When i set up the new PC (with Windows 7), I neglected to connect the USB lead, just did the monitor lead.

DOH!
