Switch of epg in media centre

I'm using an all in one running windows 7 as a tv in the kitchen, the media centre software always goes into the epg when using the remote to bring it out of sleep mode, is there any way to turn of the epg so it goes back to the channel it was on when put to sleep, its not hard for me to go to the channel i want through the epg, but family seem to have problems that usually ends in windows crashing.
