MS Office 2010 Observations

[link to this post]

I installed Office 2010 Pro last week on my XP system. Installed fine.

A bit later I found that when I started Autoroute 2006 it wanted the install disk. A bit later I found Money 2004 showed the same behaviour. As if the Explorer interface both use had somehow been 'disturbed'. OK since loading the install disc and allowing the software to 'repair' itself.

A day or so later Excel 2010 decided to go through a 'reassessment' and spent a minute or so displaying part of the install dialog, I seem to recall it referred to a single image install. Then I found Excel now had repositioned itself on the Programs area of the Start menu, and the Office group I'd placed elsewhere had emptied itself of all the applications, as well as Office 2010 Tools.

I also notice that routinely the applications lose the Recent File list. Yesterday Excel was showing 12 or so recent files, today the list was empty and the 'Quickly access the number of Recent Workbooks' was no longer ticked and set back to the default of 4 (I'd set it to 20). This is also true for Word, yesterday fine, today zilch. Apart from closing down the PC last night and booting it up this morning I've done nothing system-wise.

Anyone else had any oddities like this or anything similar?

Re: MS Office 2010 Observations - oops!

I've just realised, and done some tests to check, that it was CCleaner that was removing the Recently Used file lists. I hadn't updated the CCleeaner controls so it would not clear down Office 2010. blush blush blush

My apologies for that particular red herring, though perhaps the lesson may be of help to others.

The Autoroute & Money issues and the 'reinstall' though were not related to this - as far as I know.
