Noticed some caching issues with firefox lately.
in general its very slow at loading what should be cached content compared to IE and especially opera. Although its fine for non cached content.
However some specific issues I noticed are.
It caches ssl content.
It caches index pages. (essentially docs)
It doesnt seem to cache images long enough.
Cannot turn off ssl caching without compromising non ssl caching.
Cannot disable doc caching without also disabling image caching.
MY ideal setup would be doc's checked for updates every load (but not on back/forward), images cached for at least a week, no ssl content cached.
Example of where this caused me issues is when I was swapping my router round, after I swapped the router, it showed new router pages but in the old css layout from the original router, IE and opera both didnt make this mistake.
I also have issues with billing and control panel pages (which should never be cached) been cached in firefox.
This is the key that gave me hope but also affected images.
browser.cache.check_doc_frequency (default is set to 3)
3 makes it cache for as long as what set to by server
1 (which I tried) makes it always check for new version but because this also affected images everything was much slower.
opera can fine tune caching cache expiry for images, docs , ssl etc. but seems cant do same in firefox?
even IE lets you set expiry although not as much as opera.
