zedgenet.jpg working for me using IE7 win xpsp3

Just tried Google through Firefox 4.0 and got the following result :-
Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.zedge.net.
Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
The cached result can, however, find the site.

When some can access a site and others can't it's quite likely to be ISP/routing/DNS related.

When some can access a site and others can't it's quite likely to be ISP/routing/DNS related.
So what is the solution and why after years of using this site i now can not access it,its great for my iPhone and ring tones and stuff.

How do i do that ?.........Sorry i am not all up on the technical side of things .
|
|
|
Click 'Start' and in the search box just above the start button, type:
command
At the top of the search screen you'll see a line which says 'command prompt'. Click it and it opens a Dos window.
Once there type:
ping www.zedge.net
Here's a copy of my ping:
>ping www.zedge.net
Pinging zedge.net [74.54.84.200] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 74.54.84.200: bytes=32 time=133ms TTL=46
Reply from 74.54.84.200: bytes=32 time=133ms TTL=46
Reply from 74.54.84.200: bytes=32 time=133ms TTL=46
Reply from 74.54.84.200: bytes=32 time=133ms TTL=46
Ping statistics for 74.54.84.200:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 133ms, Maximum = 133ms, Average = 133ms
If your system can't see it you should get something other than:
Reply from 74.54.84.200: bytes=32 time=133ms TTL=46
Probably something like:
Reply from 74.54.84.200: Destination host unreachable.
When you're done, type 'exit' to close the command window.

Been onto my isp and he informed me there is no problems there end and he connected to the site no problems, they are suggesting that the site has blocked my IP address or something to which i replied why would they do that ......Its only a place where you can download ring tones for your iphone.
I only use the site because of the Apple security and the fact that you can not just put mp3 on the iphone as ring tones.
What this site does is convert them and makes it easier and has a vast choice of stuff.

You should be able to highlight text (to cut and paste) by left clicking at the start of the text, then hold the left button down and drag to highlight text. Release the left button and press control C to copy the text to the paste buffer. When you want to copy the text press left click where you want the text to be and then press control V.
|
|
|
That was my reasoning for the ping. I wondered if you had been blocked.
For copying and pasting DOS, right click in the text are, select all, then press enter. Then paste as normal, removing anything particular to you.

Doesn't work on a DOS Command window. You need to do a right-click Mark 1st, then ENTER.

My bad, I rarely use Windows.

Now seems to be loading after spending a few days on and off trying to work out why, someone suggested downloading and installing a program called Hostxpert then running it and clicking on the option to Restore MS host File.
After doing this i clicked on the Zedge link and it loaded..........Don't ask me what this program does but the fact of the matter is i can now view the website.

I tried again the day following your original post and had no problem
connecting with the site. The only thing that had changed was my
WAN IP address (I reboot my router occasionally to refresh the sync).

No idea what Host expert does, but some other programs in order to protect you do modify the host file, so that certain sites just point at your own machine. Normally it only does this for malicious sites. If you are running such a programme and somebody reported the site as bad, then that may be the cause.
