run programs from hard drive instead of cd

Hi all

We have programs which are installed on our desktop and laptop at home which requires the cd to be in the drive when you run them. Is there a way of having the programs on the hard drive to behave like beong run from a cd so not to keep asking for a disc each time it is used.

I hope this makes sense.

Yes, there is a way of doing this.. It requires that you make an image of the CD/DVD and using an emulator to mount the image of the disc, making the program think you have the CD/DVD in the drive. We do this for the kids games because the original discs get scratched and become unusable..

I'm not the OP.

Dependant on what the program is, if it's a popular game then there usually is a no cd patch or exe file. If you search google and enter your program name followed by nocd, it may find some thing for you.

Make sure your virus protection and what not is up to date if you are going to be downloaded random executable files from the net.

Although you will get false positives no doubt

Personally I recommend Alcohol 120%. Most of the decent solution are not free. You can see a comparison on features here:
