Windows Shell Common......?? Can't open now.

One of my important docx files seems to have morphed into another type, which I can't open. The icon in Windows Explorer has changed to a blank sheet and the file type is 'Windows Shell Common... (can't read the rest). Anyone know what's happened? All my other docx files are fine.

Hover on the icon to see the rest. Possibly a corruption in saving. Right click it / properties / general to see what file type.

Do an anti-virus scan.

Right click and select "Open With", then "Browse" and browse to MSWord. Ensure that "Always Use The Selected Program To Open This Kind Of File" is checked.
