wireless mouse for laptop

I need a mouse for my laptop instead of using the touchpad and thinking of getting a wireless one or is it better to get a wired one?

The wireless mouse I use has a USB receiver, so you might have to plug and unplug something everytime you pack/unpack the laptop. In that sense, I would go wired and save a few quid, but go laser and not need a mousemat.

Both my Wife and I use a Logitech M305 Cordless Mouse on our Laptops. Never could get on with the touchpad! Mouse rests easily on the space below the Keyboard and enough movement to cover the screen without needing to lift it off.

I have a very small USB receiver with it that's only 6mm proud of the metal part of the plug. No problems in puting the Laptop in its case and doesn't restrict anything as it's so small.

A Bluetooth mouse could also be an option if you don't want to bother with a usb receiver.

Does your laptop have Bluetooth? In that case, as suggested elsewhere, a Bluetooth mouse is the best choice. Otherwise any wireless one, with a dongle, will do; the dongles on some are very small.

I would never go back to using wired mice now that I am used to wireless ones.

I got a £6 mouse to replace the single AA battery ebay buy from 3 years ago. That was a £13 proper laser ( the invisiable bit that comes out the bottom). Battery lasted for ever and with a quick wiggle it woke back up. they don't seem to be on ebay anywhere, not even the make is there in search options.

Best current thing for a ok price from here ( old one was china so takes 3 weeks to arrive but normally cheaper, no disrespect to any uk seller reading this!).

other cheaper options, but might get caught out as I did with the cheap £6 replacement last month of it being a blue LED shining out the bottom, eats batteries. at least £1 shop rechargable AAA of low quality.

Laser mouse , I got a good 6 months use and did not turn off at the switch under it.

These may be optial, I now have and got so good on batteries or tracking on all surfaces but goes on the leather sofa arm!. My one not sure about these, just examples of optial I guess as no mention of it being laser, more dear ones are I now learn't the hard way when getting new one weeks ago.

To be fair as just looked at what I bought was optical, was after laser. Better tracking and run for longer. My old one 6 months on 1 AA alkaline, and can get packs in the local 99p store. Batteries are not a problem if bought from the right place!.

I have this, does the job but gone through 2 sets in 4 weeks. If rechagable then not to bad, laser mouse for normal or expensive to run optical mice.

I got rechargable.

Some come with them and charge by plugging into usb hole. or no batteries but supply your own.

I had these arrive 3 days ago for this ok mouse but not real laser like my old not existent one on ebay anymore.

What I think on the subject anyway.

I had a bluetooth one once, linked to the computer then not and with other blutooth devices at the same time like streaming the audio to a bluetooth receiver that then gave audio line out to speaker. Did not work, juddery, took forever to log on when it shut down, sent it back.

Bluetooth mice, might have had a dud but not for me. Like to press a button, left click does to wake up the one I have now and then instantly goes.

Not putting blutooth down but did not go for me. They must do or whould not sell any so just me being daft andf not setting up right I guess.

Then got the nice now died one 3 years ago, nano reciever is not a problem and sister had one of the laser ones I had and we could use in the same room so they are locked as a pair mouse and nano dongle thing) when bough so 2 of the same not a problem

Will a wired mouse be good for the job? Laptop about 95% of the time used on a desk.

Now that I am used to wireless mice I find wired ones a pain. The cord restricts movement and keeps getting caught up.

But it's a matter of personal preference.

With a laptop i use a corded, I never found the cord bothers me (also stops me leaving the mouse behind)

On my PC I would hate to go back to a corded.

I have bought two of these from Amazon for my laptops.

The receiver/transmitter is very small and can stay in the laptop USB port.

I just got the gigabyte one that is the first choice on my posting.

The cheap nice size £6 I bought died the other day, worked and did not. moaned to the chinese ebay seller and refund into paypal, result. Now in the bin.

Does not alway pay to get cheap ebay tat. I like laser and now got again after the dreadfull rubbish I bought December with the blue led doing the thing out the bottom of the mouse.

Eats batteries, went through 2 lots of rechargiable in not a month.

Old one did 6 months, this I have now says the same.

I like what you had. But can it do what the amazon listing picture shows.

On a glass table with nothing below. So a sheet of glass. Nice if it does.

Mine won't as just tried but they dont so not dissapointing.

Like the lasers for the battery life more than anything.

Has he bought anything yet. seems a strange question, some people like corded, some don't. I like no wires on mine and most of the time is sat on the computer desk but laptop and cordless, nicer.

Might have thought about yours if known it exists but normal laser works on sofa and floor, computer desk and tracksuit bottom (when needed1), so does me.

The wife(laptop) and I(desktop) both use Microsoft Trackball Optical corded ball mice and neither of us could possibly use anything else. With the laptop the mouse just sits on the arm of the chair and as it is a ball mouse no movement is required - perfect. I use one for my desktop and it uses the minimum amount of desk-space - just its footprint. Once you get used to the ball control with your thumb you'll never go back to a standard mouse, corded or otherwise

Nor sure if I would want one. To fidley. Mousemat on the desk, not a problem as just the computer, that and a mug mat for the hot chocolate!.

The mouse will work exactly as stated...on glass (glass table with nothing underneath), carpet, trouser leg, duvet cover etc. Also there is apparently no need to actually install the batteries as mouse will work without. (how????).

No need to install any software, just plus mini transmitter/receiver into a USB port, but I would recommend installing the software as you get better functionally with the mouse.

Getting instructions now, 27Mb file.

My panasonic 3d telly instructions was not 7.

Without batteries, I don't think so. What are they on.
Can logitech design a car that does not need fuel of some sort. Give us all more money in the bank.

They bang on about 2 AA batteries.

I bet there is a mouse and mat where the mat has a wire going to it for power from a small mobile phone charger type size thing. Mat gives of a electric radiated field. Mouse has coil inside that picks up electromagnetic field and so gives a current to charge it's batteries.

So sat on mat it charges with no user input.

Guessing but if not why not.
Think some mobile phones can have cases that do that and lay on the charge pad, same thing.

Your mouse needs batteries like you say, how can it without.

One for the gadget show on 5 if it has no power sorce, only one in the world and £30 , bargain!.

Now for tea. Sat here with the new mouse I am finding a bit small., Just different to the old one no longer exists on ebay, hundreds once, now nothing.
New one a bit uncomforable, not to worry, like noew shoes, need to get used to and £20 so can't moan. Or could, did on ebay the found on play.com and somewhere else ( I forget) for £16.

Sorry my mistake, it can function with just one battery to save weight.

DF from dublin , first review on amazon said that, had read that earlier but not thought that might have been what you read in instructions.

5) For normal use it uses 2 AA batteries, however if you are travelling with it and want to make it a little lighter, you can remove one of the batteries and it will still work.


My old laser mouse used 1 AA battery.

So not quite as good as no batteries. Sahme, would like that technology in the mobile phone, things never lasts the day out in London or where ever.

Is there in the tips as you found.

A clever bit of rewiring when you take batteries out or wired in parallel to start with.
If there are wired as a line so one + to the others - and the spare of each feeding the board then 1 battery would not work as a open circuit.

Good stuff but is it really needed, Put 2 lithiums in the thing and it will last for ages. Got 2 in mine now as it arrived only today.

Might look at one of your ones next time after this dies, I get 3 years if lucky out of them.

Cheap ebay one last month did not 4 weeks, money back and in the bin today as rubbish that died.
