Firefox 3.6 EOL but is a new hidden extended support version

new version that they didnt really make well known designed for corporates but I will be using it.

I read that support for that will last at least a year, before it's EOL
then they will make another version with at least a year before EOL.

It's due to many complaints of constant updates needed for support.

I didn't know many large organizations used it tbh! Is it perhaps aimed at linux/unix environments more than Windows?

I use firefox myself but I'd need a lot of convincing to switch a Windows enterprise network away from IE.

they dont but there is obviously enough that made firefox create this version.

Found out the other day that Santander business banking would not work with Firefox v11 (which a friend was using). His FF would just 'hang' and not even give an error message (the Santander login page went off to some AbbeyNational secure page, but as I say, didn't say "your browser isn't supported").

Tried some other browser and saw FF 3.6 mentioned, but didn't do any research, so was pleased to see this thread explain its origins.

The plans are FF17 will be the next extended, then FF24.

But I do wonder how long they will keep the rushing out new versions.

seems ok yes.

I can still see a obvious flaw tho.

my guess is when ff17 esr is released hitting update will probably just update to it the same way it does minor updates catching people out.
