Hello, having an issue with text display on my PC.
Generally all text on web pages etc is fine, but occasionally - such as the one provided here - distorted text comes up. Does any have any thoughts, please.
Cheers, Les.

It looks like you have a corrupted font. Assuming that Firefox is using Arial for sans-serif fonts, check all variants of Arial using Control Panel > Fonts.
'Sir, please,' she said ... 'Will you not share your wisdom with us?'
'I have no wisdom,' he told her.
'Your experiences, then?'
'They have been trivial, uninteresting, and full of error.'

Hi Mick, Thanks for the quick reply.
Checked through the fonts - I'm running Times New Roma @ 16pt.
Went through the Firefox tools/options/content/advanced and unchecked the "allow websites to use their own font".
Everything still the same.
All typed text by me, and the vast majority of web-page text is fine - just a few examples such as the one I showed. Any other ideas!
Cheers, Les.

Are the text boxes on the page real, or are they just embedded in the image. If the latter, the problem may be on the website, not your machine. Are there any other sites that show the same problem?

Not really sure , Mick..
Here's the URL that gave me the display I showed : perhaps if you get the chance you could see how it reproduces on your PC?
Cheers, Les.

It looks OK here. I suggest that you re-install Java (or not rely on Microsoft's implementation that comes with Windows.) Download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

I'll try that now, Mick. Cheers. Correction - just checked the Java - apparently "congratulations, you have the latest Java installed"

It looks like there are known problems with Firefox. You may need to do some searching to nail it down. You could try using another browser and maybe turn of hardware acceleration on your graphics card.

Hi Mick, Even though Java said I had the latest, I thought maybe I'd uninstall and reinstall: this I did with no improvement.
Peculiarly, when I reopened Firefox - half an hour later - and did the same test as the one I sent you before, all seemed fine. You tell me? It's the first time it's been OK.
Cheers, Les.

Latest Java has had some issues for some users. Try uninstalling and install an earlier version.
Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb
Now O2 standard

Cheers Mick/66,
I did alter the hardware acceleration by about half.
All seems fine now - so thanks for the help.
