Thanks, that idea of changing the XP user name that I gave to help you also helped me solve a long-standing issue I had with XP/Vista networking smile.

Windows should be able to correct that. I'm sure it corrected when I changed drive letter once so why not with a name. smile

Worse case, I will just have to do a fresh windows install. smile

Windows itself can probably correct that but whether your 3rd party apps can. Some are written in such a manner that it is difficult for Windows redirect them to where they ought to be.

Drive letter is not a problem but as you will note when you change it, a warning message does come up telling you certain apps may not work properly.

I admit it annoys me sometimes that once renaming accounts the file path is still the "old" account name but its probably not a feature that is requested enough for Microsoft to spend time implementing extra code to cope with the change.
