Win 8 on a 20gb drive

Anyone fit Win 8 on a 20gb drive? I bought another licence for Win 8 before the price goes up and my other machine has XP on a 20 gb drive, has anyone tried the upgrade on a small drive? I have an 80gb drive knocking about somewhere but it would be a lot easier just to stuff it on the existing drive as its fairly new (well in power on hours time). My main machine has a 500gb drive and Win 8 is weighing in at 22 gb but the other machine is only used for browsing and email. Thoughts?

Well, it's not an upgrade from XP, so you don't have Windows.old to worry about. But I wouldn't have thought that 20GB was enough. Bear in mind that you need space for a swap file and, preferably, 20% free space on the drive. I'd use the 80GB drive.

Interesting Camie the machine has 4 gb of ram is a swap needed? In order to get the 2nd licence I had to run the Upgrade on my main machine as it said there wasnt enough room on the 20gb drive but I have a CDR with it on. Spose I could try it and see what happens. I see a screen shot of the preview x64 taking 8 gb about the same as XP but my install is a lot bigger than that.

I haven't used WIn 8, so am not familiar with the peculiarities of its swapfile. Vista's swapfile is generally good to be set at 1x RAM as a minimum. I have mine set as 4GB min and 5GB max. Almost never get a problem (massive, massive images can fail to open due to lack of RAM, but I think that's purely the RAM or addressing limitations).

You could probably get away without a swap file, but I would set it to 1/4 of a GB just in case.
