Hiya,
I need to restrict access to facebook to certain times of the day of a PC in the office.
Throughout the day the user needs access to the rest of the internet but only at certain times of the day be allowed access to facebook. I have found many software that can restrict access based on sites, content or time of the day but none that do what I need.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

There are usually features for this in router's firewall.
1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 19 Meg WBC

You could always use OpenDns and adjust accordingly.

But can I filter on time AND websites just by using openDNS?

I have seen this mentioned but doubt the ISP supplied router will have anything fancy like that and from what I have seen they couldnt filter on time AND websites.

My ISP supplied router can filter on time AND websites. Why not yours? You won't know till you look.

May I suggest that if a free router from your ISP, and a free service on the internet, are both not quite capable of doing what you ask, that perhaps you may need to consider the possibility that you may need to spend something more than nothing?
There are ways to do what you ask, but being a very specific requirement many of the solutions may be more involved (set up a local DNS server and script it's zone settings to change at certain times) or more expensive (buy a more feature advanced router/firewall).

Not to forget if you want your employees to be flexible and take their lunch at different timers depending on workload .....

PFSense could do this for you.
Just tested here and works fine.
Cheap if you have an old PC knocking about.
May be a bit more involved as a solution than you are looking for though?
Or maybe this?

I never said that it had to be free, I dont mind paying as long as it works but equally I dont want to pay for something that doesnt do the job
I have enquired about net nanny and it is possible with that software by creating 2 different accounts so i might have to do that

I think that PFSense as you say is a bit more involved as its literally 1 PC in a shop I want to restrict.
I looked at that K9 but couldnt quite see f it did want I wanted and couldnt find a way to contact them for support unless you already had the product
ahah, after clicking through god knows how many pages i found it and email sent

Then the Draytek Vigor 2820 that I use at home is capable of blocking sites based upon a schedule.
It may take some effort adding the domains that you want blocked.
It is also capable of allowing access based upon a whitelist and a schedule.
Getting the router setup would take some time and effort, particularly around deciding exactly what it is you want.
The model of router I have is also an older model so it might be worth looking at what else is available.
But certainly I would expect any enterprise or SOHO grade router to be capable of what you ask.
