EMail links open Metro email program

In desktop (with which I have Windows Live Mail installed), I find that clicking on an email link opens the Metro version of the email program instead of the correct desktop version (meaning I have to go back to the desktop to copy the text I want) - is there anyway of making sure that links on the desktop only open the relevant desktop program ?

Control panel > default programs, set to Windows Live?
or
Removing Metro mail?

Yes, setting Windows Live Mail default in Control Panel is the way to do - didn't see it there originally.

Unfortunately doing that now means Metro programs open the desktop version...
