Excel help needed.

Have a spreadsheet that has various shops on it EG "John Lewis" it will appear on different rows and columns.
In the cell to the right on it is a value which is the spend.

What I'm hoping to do it get a formula that calculates the total spend at JL.

Can you do a quick sample as not sure the purpose to having it on different rows / columns. If it was in same column each time then you could use pivot tables or a "sumif" function.

Each month has a different column. "John Lewis" could appear in any row in that column
(the rows are in date order)

At the bottom of each column is the total of the column that will show total spend on all shops in that month.

If possible I want a formula that looks though the 12 columns and calculates the total spend at each shop.

=sumif(a1:a6,"John Lewis",b1:b6)+sumif(c1:c6,"John Lewis",d1:d6)

Adding a sumif for each column set until you have all 12.
