Two for the price of one!

I've just been tidying up my laptop and I went into Windows Update to make sure everything was up to date. I manually installed everything on December 16th but the same updates were being offered this morning. They showed in the list as successful. Anyway, I suspected that they hadn't been installed properly so I did them again. Now I have two sets of the same updates showing as installed! Has anyone else seen this phenomenon? More to the point, is there something wrong?

Weird, have seen this on very rare occasions. Usually it is when the computer has installed updates but has not been restarted since. Try a few manual restarts and it should go away.

In terms of this causing future problems it shouldn't do as the Windows Update service performs a sophisticated enumeration of the current state of the OS to determine whether updates are required, so as long as it doesn't continue to do this going forward you should be OK.

If in doubt run an sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.
