Windows 8 Mail & News

Just started having problems with Windows 8 Mail & News - Mail just sticks at synchronising whilst Mail just sticks at the animated red dots.

App repair finds no problems...

Mail = Mail! Which 1 do you mean?

The second one should be News

Anyway, I got it sorted - just deleted everything in the SoftwareDistribution folder - sorted both the Mail and News apps - by the looks of things, something got corrupted there.

Which leads me onto : It appears that Windows 8 is more susceptible to corrupt files that Windows 7 or even XP, or is it just my imagination ?
