In that case swap CD with DVD or Blueray

Yes - point still stands, who uses that stuff these days much on a PC?

We have more and more laws, and less and less enforcement

News to me - I very rarely put any media in the optical drive on PCs these days, and even less so damaged media.

News to me - I'm surprised anyone has gone totally cloud-based.

Cant be bothered! Dont really like all the tracking incorporated in it either.

I read about that and not that impressed with that either. anyway I have got windows 8.1 set as I want it now with a nice start menu, I have no need to muck about putting windows 10 on with a start menu that looks like the start screen.

Not interested in any of the metro/modern UI apps, so I have no reason to run them on the desktop.

Windows 10 offers me nothing.

i still got got a Blu-ray writer and will use it again once I get out and abaout and do some more camera work.

I admit I do not normally put Cd in the drive, but I still back stuff onto DVD. I tend not to use the cloud that much, too much spying and tracking.

Existing CDs on to ITunes is impossible without one unless you connect the HIFI direct or wirelessly to the PC.

Was Eclipse Home Option 1, VM 2Mb & O2 Standard
Now Utility Warehouse (up to 16mbps) via Talk Talk

People who like to spend lots of money to get themselves tied in to Apple products, the rest of us go with more open systems.
