uTorrent , Windows 8 or ISP causing time out?

Hi all,

I'm running Windows 8.1 and when I have uTorrent (v3.4.2) running and start playing a steam game online (CS:GO) the connection times out after a few minutes and I need to reconnect again.

If I close uTorrent there is no problem. I thought this might be related to the number of "Global connections" I had set in uTorrent and lowered this from 200 (the default) to 100. however the issue still occurs. I had a similar setup in windows 7 without issues.

Is there anything else I can try to narrow down the issue?

Can it be my ISP or their traffic management? (Plusnet)
My router? (Technicolor 582n)
Windows 8.1 TCP/connection limit?
Ethernet driver? (connected via powerline adapters)

Any help in narrowing the issue appreciated.

Could it be that your steam game wants to use the same ports that utorrent is using. Can you change the ports that utorrent listens on.
