Files stored on Desktop

Hi,

My laptop's power supply decided to give-up, rather spectacularly, today. Luckily HDD seems ok, so I am trying to recover as much as possible. However can't seem to find 3 or 4 files that my wife stored on the desktop.

OS is Windows 7 32 bit

I assumed they would be in Users/Roger/Downloads, but although most of them are there the three I need to recover can't be found.

Can anyone let me know where to find them?

Files stored on desktop are in C:\Users\<username>\Desktop

Make sure you have "show hidden files and folders" selected.

Users/Roger/Desktop?

What type of files were they, doc, docx.exe etc? Not just shortcuts to the files on the desktop were they.? I assume from your post that your wife shared the same account? No permission errors when trying to access the hard disk on what I assume is another PC? What version of Windows is on the PC you are accessing the drive from?
