Ditto, a few more times this evening!

Also March round of Windows Updates have just been released so it might well have been downloading them ready to apply at the next maintenence window.

Mmm.. When it is doing this can you open up task manager and see what process is consuming the CPU? I am sure it will be doing something legitimate, but if you keep stopping it then it may never get chance to finish.

I did try that yesterday, but the CPU was virtually at 1% - virtually no activity!

I always look at the disc activity and also the cumulative CPU in Task Manager. A lot can go on that the default columns of it don't show. Sorting descending on various columns can be instructive as well.

Also make sure you are seeing all processes, not just your own.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.4 (interleaved)/15.6Mbps @ 600m. - IPv4BQM IPv6BQM
