This started a few days ago where some images in my feed show as black boxes. For example after scrolling for a couple of pages a photo posted will show as a black box. If I click on the picture it opens ok in a new view. Then I will scroll another couple of pages and the posters Icon will not show up, Just a black box.
Things I have done to try and resolve. Refreshed firefpx, deleted cache, deleted user profile, uninstalled and re-installed, disabled adblock plus, disabled hosts file. Running out of options.
Doesnt happen in IE11 or seem to happen on other pages. Clearing the cache seems to fix for a few pages then it starts again.
Anyone suggest a fix?

I have also noticed problems with FF showing images past few days... Driving me up the wall!
Perhaps they have some dodgy code...

The latest versions of FF are not playing well with some add-ons, ad-blockers in particular. This was bound to happen with Mozilla's aggressive update policy. Try disabling some plugins/extensions.

Hope they fix it soon.
Edit: Just noticed it on the Novatech site browsing video cards, on the second page a blank black box where a picture should be!

V36.0.1

Thank you, I will hold off updating for now then, as facebook is fine with the previous version.

I would report this bug on bugzilla but you need an account and they want info from you.
|
|

Have downgraded to 35.0.1 seems ok.

New update, 36.0.3 but the problem remains!

I have Waterfox V36.0 and it is working fine with Facebook pictures.
I did have a problem a few months ago which in the end came down to hardware acceleration of OS vs Application settings, however this was the whole screen not updating rather than just a picture.

Have you tried disabling installed add-ons?

I don't see the problem.
|
|

You dont see images missing as a problem or dont see the images missing?

I don't see the images missing

I have to scroll alot down the page for them to start to go missing sometimes scrolling back to the top also makes them turn into black boxes. It usually starts with the peoples icon on the news feed page turning into a black box or half a black box, Doesnt happen in V35 for me, somethings changed. Clearing the cache sorts it for a few minutes then its back or black LOL

I think that you need to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of Firefox. You should uninstall it using Revo Uninstaller (there is a free version). Uninstall using Advanced mode. This will wipe your user profile, including you bookmarks. You can save your entire profile (including bookmarks) and restore it using MozBackup. Remember to save it somewhere outside Firefoxe's directories. Alternatively, you can use Firefox Sync to save and reload your bookmarks.
You can trust Revo Uninstaller to select the correct registry entries and files to delete after the Firefox uninstallion process has completed. I always uninstall applications using it and have done so hundreds of times. It has only let me down once and that was before I switched to Windows 7.
Remember to have some other way of accessing t'internet while firefox is unavailable.

You mean for example here? http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/amdrad...
Because I don't see a problem. Maybe it's an addon causing it? You can restart with addons disabled from the help menu
|
|
|
Right disabling the addons one by one makes no difference I still get random black boxes but using the "Disable Addons" from the help menu and going into safe mode seems to cure it, so what else does safe mode disable? I notice my menu has disappeared in safe mode.

You may have a corrupted user profile. It is not difficult to create a new profile but before you do so, try refreshing your Firefox settings.

Help says If the problem does not happen in Safe Mode, it is most likely because of an extension, theme or hardware acceleration.
|
|
|
I think it maybe hardware acceleration, I have turned off and scrolling like mad to see if I can get it to do it again.
Edit: I think thats it, will report back in a couple of days.

It was that but I have also upgraded to V37 and turned hardware acceleration back on but someone has filed a bug that V37 has a graphics crash bug so auto updates have been pulled. Also I have used Guru3d driver sweeper and re-installed the latest nvidia drivers.
So pick your solution.
No graphics glitches or crashes for me so far.

I just upgraded to 37.0.1
|

Wonder if they fixed the graphics crash?
