Microsoft Band

[link to this post]

Not sure if many of you know, but you can now preorder the Microsoft band. I've never really been interested in health and fitness bands, and smart watches, but I actually like the idea and execution of the band.

Here's the link

What do you guys think about this? Did you know it existed and will you be purchasing it on/after the release?

Any health and fitness band that does not guarantee to be water (and sweat) proof is not fit for purpose. So that leaves Garmin, Polar and Suunto as the only players in the game that I know of.

I suspect that most people who get them do so for posing (not the OP) so they are probably unlikely to be exposed to water. Rather like the watch I had that was tested to 30 fathoms, but came off in the bath or shower just in case.

To be honest, I'm not big on fitness and I should really start going out more to get fit, but I am interested in what information the band shows.

I do do some workouts so would be fun to see what the band will say about what I do and I never work off a hard sweat so it should work for me for a long while. tongue

I also actually think that this band beats the Apple watch in pretty much every single way. smile

[censored] good question! Not as well as a proper watch can judging by the deviousness used to avoid answering this question head on.

Don't even wear a watch, certainly don't need that nonsense.

I've never been one for watches either, but this band does intrigue me.

Keep a watching brief as time will tell if the watch can tell the time? Is that the gist?

Must admit it does look a little interesting and appears a little smaller than most of the alternatives. But, need to see what it is like in real life - I'm not that keen on the idea of touch screen watches but who knows, they might have done a good job.

The odd thing is all the pictures have the people wearing them with the screen on the inside of the wrist. I saw someone else comment on this and suggesting it was because they just don't look that good...

When clearly posting as a provider, there is a very thin line between finding random new stuff to talk about to keep a signature link visible and genuine involvement on a forum.

You are leaning towards the former rather than the later
