MS in their infinite wisdom have decided to download Windows 10 to machines that qualify, even if you haven't registered your interest. They say this is in preparation for when you do, which personally I dont
This only applies if you have the Windows Update setting to Automatically Download and apply updates. I checked a friends machine last night and he had, had the Win10 download and didn't even know about it. What is particularly irritating in his case is that he is on a capped service of 10GB per month and the update was over 5.6Gbytes, ( another mystery since it should be about 3Gbytes) This he then realised was why Plusnet had charged him extra for going over his limit.
So, beware of this potential use of your bandwidth and limit. You can check to see if you have it or not by looking in the root directory - usually C:/ - for a folder called Windows_BT. Check the size of this.
Rather presumptious of MS I think and begs the question that if they have pre-empted your need by downloading it, how long before they decide to update you anyway.
