missing info on my email

I use windows live mail on my win 10 laptop. I usually get a dialogue/ info at the bottom of the screen when I press the "send/receive" button to tell me that no messages or there are a number of messages. However I seem to have lost this dialogue/ info for some reason. Can anybody tell me how to get it back.

the dialogue/ info appear at the bottom right hand corner. It is useful as it tell me if there are any mail messages, when you press send/ receive. For some reason it has disappeared and I cannot get it back.

Try a repair, from Programs and Features click Windows Essentials 2012 then click repair all programs. So far I cannot find a way to turn this feature on and off.

Try right-clicking a blank part of the taskbar and selecting Properties. On the Taskbar tab is there a customize button for the Notification area? Up to and including Win 8.1 you could set such things there. I've just discovered Win 10 looks less friendly.

"View" tab, then the "Status bar" button.

Yes, that is what I miss with Outlook. All it flashes up is %age of Send/Receive complete.

I seem to remember having a similar issue with WLM on Win 8.1 in its early days. It was something to do with syncing the calendar, but I can't remember the fix.

This is not in the Taskbar of the whole desktop, but in the Status Bar of the WLM window itself.

In the Outlook (2010) Status Bar, left hand end, there's a count of read & unread emails. Unless they're turned off on the Options dialog - right click on the Outlook Status Bar for the options.

No, you've understood me perfectly

However I'm using OL 2003. In Status Bar, left hand end, there's a count of read but not unread emails of the current highlighted folder. Right click on the Status Bar does nowt. The only count of unread emails is in brackets against the individual folders in the LH folder list. There is nowt to tell you how many emails were read in the last Send/Receive pass (which, using filters, can end up in various folders), unlike WLM & OE.

Furthermore, there is nowt to tell you how many emails were NOT read in the last Send/Receive pass cuz they were deleted from server by filters, again unlike WLM & OE (by the process of subtraction).

Ah, didn't realise it was O2003.

One thing that would be useful is a count of read/total messages against each folder, e.g. Inbox (27/5) I think I've seen that in some webmail implementations.
