Win 10 has a search bar within the task bar so you don't need to even press start these days

Unless you turn it off because it wastes too much space, like I do.

Yippee!

I just turned off the "Task view" first try as a result of this post. The Search icon took me three or four, because trying to untick the Show option didn't work. Hidden has to be chosen.

The amusing bit is than right-clicking on the task bar no longer brings up the Search option to re-enable it. crazy (Not that I want to).

It certainly should do, 2nd item on the context menu for me.

Ah right, I have Cortana disabled so that probably accounts for the fact that mine is labelled "Search".

Just press the Start button and type: disk cleanup

Indeed it is! It should come in handy within Windows 10 for searching Apps, provided you knew what it was prior to your searching. That means you should be fairly experiences in the other Windows OS/s.

Ah, got it!

I too have Cortana disabled so get "Search". What happened is that to get rid of both I right-clicked in their immediate vicinity and was able to disable them.

Right-clicking in the same area gives context menus for File Explorer or the Command Prompt, (next to the Windows one at the left), but right-clicking the Task Bar to the right of my active windows gives the expected menu.
