Do i need .net framework

Seem to get alot of updates for this from Windows Update and wondered if its necessary. It came pre installed on my Win7 machine years ago. I know what .net is and how it can be useful for devs, but not sure if any software i use runs it

Only got Open Office, Firefox, Malwarebytes and Superantispyware on my PC as its mainly used for browsing. Is there a list of software that needs it?

You'll probably find some application that uses it. There's only one way to find out (that I know of)?

I try to install some software but it doesn't because they need .net framework.Some of the software and games you must need the .net framework if you don't have then the software and games don't work.
