Macrium reflect and Bitlocker

[link to this post]

Just discovered Macrium reflect rescue media supports Bitlocker drives if you tick the right boxes when building the media. I had just done a backup to my Crucial X6 and was checking it with rescue media but the media couldn't see the bitlocked portable.

After DuckDuckGo search I discovered that rescue media needs the advanced section with bitlocker support in the PE environment. Only discovered this just as I was decrypting the X6 drive which is a time consuming and non reversible process unless you wait another 3 hours to encrypt the drive again.

Dont think I will bother with Bitlocker, seems more trouble than it is worth.

I have never used bitblocker myself, I have set it up for other people, but not for myself. I know Reflect has a password system built in, but I have not really looked into it, not sure if that is anything to do with bitblocker.

i use Vera crypt to encrypt files.

Playing with Letsupload, which has unlimited storage for free but doesn't say how long it retains them. It's going to take 24 hrs to upload my C drive as a test.

Hi, used Bitlocker for years - with no issues at all. Cheers, Les.

Even with Macrium on a bare metal restore?

Same. With a TPM installed you forget it's even there.

I do not see the point in TPM or bitblocker for most people to be honest, if you have a laptop, and you take it out with you maybe, l but a waste of time on a desktop at home
